Employee Spotlight: Introducing…Mel L. Pfirman Jr.

In September 2005, Mel Pfirman was promoted to IT Service Manager. He now is responsible for Break/Fix and Installation services at Geisinger Health System and for expanding our IT service business in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Mel Pfirman joined ISS Solutions in 1999 as a Break/Fix Technician dedicated to servicing Geisinger Health System. His exceptional performance as a technician, and then as a supervisor, led to this promotion.

Mel’s manager, Herb Viniarski, states, “Mel is persevering. He remains constant to a purpose, idea, or task. For example, one afternoon a client requested that software be re-installed on 1,200 new devices. Mel formed a team and organized the re-installation of all 1,200 devices in addition to his team’s normal workload. This illustrates Mel’s “can-do” attitude and leadership ability.”

Mel says he enjoys solving problems—the more difficult, the greater the challenge.

Mel is a graduate of Crypto Electronics Repair School in Ft. Gordon, GA; has an Associate Degree in Fiber Optics Electronics from Williamsport Area Community College; and completed a 4-year enlistment in United States Army with honorable discharge. He also has numerous certifications which include A + Certification, Network + Certification, and various HP certifications. He is a Microsoft Certified Professional for Windows 2000.

Mel and his wife Jodi share their home with children Timmy, Cheyenne, and David. He enjoys bow hunting, woodworking, fishing, remodeling his house, and coaching his son Timmy’s T-ball team.
